It is rumored that when the series concluded, many fans expected a second season to premiere no later than the fall of 2019 or perhaps a year from now. Scientists contributing to the breakthrough design a non-profit organization known as “APE” which, based on the scientists’ findings, will wield significant influence on world politics and the global economy.įollowing their discovery of human immortality, many humans chose to be immortal even though it came with the side effect of losing their reproductive capabilities. The groundbreaking discoveries in mining technology helped speed the advance of human civilization in the early 21st century, enabling magma energy extraction for a cheap, all-encompassing energy source. To help children develop emotional responses required to pilot Franxx, the children are kept in environments resembling “birdcages” that simulate the past. These artificially-created children referred to as “parasites”, are considered to be completely independent of the rest of the world and only serve to pilot Franxx in pairs to defend humanity. Due to their exposure to technology and living in plantations, adults within cities are immortal, but reproduction and interpersonal relationships have become obsolete and unappealing. People who are adults and those who are children exist in environments that are dramatically different from each other. That said, the manga diverts from the anime from volume 4 onwards, and this could conceivably lay the groundwork for Darling In The Franxx season 2, set in an alternate reality beginning where the manga diverges.Darling in the Franxx: cast What do we have to know about Darling in the Franxx?ĭarling in the Franxx anime series describes the place where humans abandoned the surface after a world-ending calamity reduced the population. Despite being comprised of just 24 episodes, the scope of Darling In The Franxx echoes the ambitious narrative of Frank Herbert's Dune saga, and the ending of season 1 is a proper tribute to the foundational philosophical sci-fi stories that inspired the anime. A thousand years into the future, the souls of Hiro and Number Two, whose sacrifices made this all possible, reincarnate and reunite as children. After the Parasites vow to never again use Magma Energy and the Klaxosaurs return underground, the Parasites spend eight years restoring the planet back to a much more habitable and prosperous place. Narratively, Darling In The Franxx season 2 doesn't need to happen, as the second half of Darling In The Franxx season 1, episode 24 "Never Let Me Go" neatly ties up and closes all storylines. Darling In The Franxx season 1 culminates in a conclusive and satisfying ending, and although the manga is still running, it simply makes sense for the anime to end.
